The COVID situation at PoSa has deteriorated rapidly, today an employee of the Havu daycare center was diagnosed with a COVID infection. The infection is a follow-up infection from an infection that was already diagnosed earlier. The authorities responsible for infectious diseases at PoSa and the hospital district, in cooperation with the daycare center and the city of Kankaanpää, have identified people who have been exposed to the infection. The contagious period begins two days before the onset of symptoms, and therefore contacts have had to be identified between 23 and 25.11.20 November 6. Infection tracing has been started and all those exposed have been contacted. There are 16 exposed employees and a total of XNUMX children in two groups. Other groups and other staff have not been exposed.

Those exposed will be quarantined for 10 days from the last day of exposure. Since the information about the exposure was only received today, the quarantine period for most is 26.11.- 6.12.20. The parent has the right to be at home with the quarantined child during the quarantine.

The daycare center has been in contact with the children's parents. PoSa's infection tracers will try to contact all parents of children who will be placed in quarantine by phone tomorrow, November 27.11.20, XNUMX.

The quarantine does not apply to the family members of the exposed person and they are allowed to move around normally. However, if the person ordered to quarantine becomes ill, they must be taken for a test and in that case the family members must wait at home for the test results.

The most common incubation period for coronavirus infection is around 4-5 days, but it varies between 1-10 days. If the exposed person has even minor symptoms, such as runny nose, cough, sore throat, fever, loss of smell or taste, or in some cases diarrhea it is important to apply for the test It is extremely rare for children to become ill from such exposures in daycare centers.

There is no reason to test asymptomatic people. Testing cannot shorten the quarantine period.

If your child has even mild symptoms suggestive of coronavirus infection, please complete a symptom assessment at omaolo.fi or call the flu clinic at 02 577 3265. When the health center is closed, you can call the emergency telephone advice service of Satasairaala Hospital at 116 117.
