The Early Childhood Education Data Repository (Varda) is a national data repository launched at the beginning of 2019, which contains information on early childhood education providers, early childhood education facilities, children in early childhood education, guardians of children and early childhood education personnel. The Early Childhood Education Act provides for the early childhood education data repository. The data repository is used, among other things, to promote the development and decision-making of early childhood education, collect statistics and research on early childhood education, and perform official tasks. The Finnish National Board of Education is responsible for maintaining the early childhood education data repository.
According to the Early Childhood Education Act, municipalities and joint municipal authorities are obliged to store information about guardians of children in early childhood education in Varda from 1.9.2019 September XNUMX. The data to be stored includes personal data about guardians. The personal data about guardians stored in Varda are:
- name, social security number, student number, native language, municipality and contact information
- the amount of the early childhood education customer fee and the value of the service voucher
- family size according to the law on customer fees for early childhood education
- the start and end date of the payment decision
Varda only stores information about children in early childhood education and their guardians in the Population Information System related to the guardianship entity.
In addition, the following personal data of the data subject is linked to Varda through the learner number register maintained by the Finnish National Board of Education:
- name, learner number and personal identification number or other similar identification information, nationality, gender, native language and necessary contact information.
Our municipality will transfer data from the operational early childhood education information system to Vardaa using system integration starting September 1.9.2019, XNUMX.
