The summer in Kankaanpää has traditionally ended with the Hörhiäisviikko (Hörhiäis Week) held in late August, where people meet new and old friends while enjoying a diverse program. This year, the Hörhiäisviikko will be renewed in line with the times and will be held online.
Hörhiäisviikko 2020 will be held from 14 to 20.9 September as a program broadcast on the City of Kankaanpää's YouTube channel. The program has a lot to offer for different target groups, just like the traditional Hörhiäisviikko.
Program also available during the day
Happy New Year's Eve program is arranged in a chronological order and it is easy to jump into the broadcast at different times. The program segments are broadcast daily at 10 am, 14 pm and 18 pm except on Sunday, when there is only the Kankaanpää day program at 14 pm. In addition, on Friday and Saturday evenings there are Hörhiäisöit broadcasts at 21 pm.
There will be music and culture in many forms, exercise sessions, puppetry and music, current topics, etc. etc. The program has collected a very diverse range of videos - there will be treasures from the archives as well as more recent material.
The daytime segments are recorded, but in the evenings there will be live concerts and gigs from the Kankaanpääsali. Several program segments will also be shown as repeats during the week, and the programs will also be recorded for later viewing on the city's YouTube channel.

On Friday, Volttvapaat will create the atmosphere, with guest artists Vitali Imereli, Harri Hieta and Anette Raukola. On Saturday, we will be able to enjoy the Kohtalon Kulkurien Topi Sorsakoski tribute concert, which we saw in Kankaanpääsali in early winter. Like last year, Hörhiäisyöt will be hosted by Olli Mustaniemi.
The week ends on Sunday 20.9 September with Kankaanpää Day, which is a traditional celebration of the hometown's name day organized by the Kankaanpää Society. The event will include a celebratory speech and the awarding of the Kankaanpää For Medals.
Suggestions for this year's Hörhiäinen were once again collected from the public.
What would Hörhiäisviikko be without the election of the Hörhiäis of the year? Hörhiäinen is the name of the Kankaanpää people for an active and positive person who, through their actions, creates a lot of well-being around them. Hörhiäinen makes people happy and visits different places and events during their representative year.
Nominations for the 2020 Hörhiäisten were accepted until Friday, September 11.9th. via the form on the event website or directly to the address [email protected]
The final selection was made based on the proposals by a selection panel, which includes representatives from the city, Kankaanpää Region, Kankaanpää Entrepreneurs and the Lions' Hörhiäistoymikunta. The 2020 Hörhiäinen will be announced on Friday 18.9 September at around 21 pm at the start of the Hörhiäisyö broadcast.
