The summer in Kankaanpää has traditionally ended with the Hörhiäisviikko (Hörhiäis Week) held in late August. The 2020 Hörhiäisviikko was implemented as a program broadcast on the city's YouTube channel. This year, the Hörhiäisviikko will still be held mainly as a gap year, but the traditional Hörhiäisen selection will be held this time as well.
Hörhiäinen is the name of the Kankaanpää people for an active and positive person who, through their actions, creates a lot of well-being around them. Hörhiäinen makes people happy and visits different places and events during their representative year. The 2021 Hörhiäinen can be nominated by 27.8.2021 by email to [email protected] or on a paper form at the Kankaanpää or Honkajoki libraries. Remember to justify your proposal.
The final selection will be made based on the proposals by a selection panel, which includes representatives from the city, Kankaanpää Region, Kankaanpää Entrepreneurs and Leijon. The 2021 Hörhiäinen will be announced on Friday 3.9 September after the Hobby Fair at around 19 pm in Kankaanpää Hall and the announcement will also be streamed on the city's YouTube channel. The event program will be confirmed later.
