Kankaanpää is once again participating in a national survey to find out residents' opinions about their municipality and its services. The survey was last conducted in 2020.
A total of 32 citizens across Finland will receive a questionnaire from the Association of Finnish Local and Regional Authorities by post in the coming week, asking the recipient's perceptions of their municipality of residence and the way it handles matters. At the same time, it will be investigated what respondents think of municipal services and how they participate in decision-making in their municipality. The survey has been sent out.
The survey being carried out now is one of the most extensive surveys surveying the views of municipal residents. The Association of Municipalities has been conducting similar and similarly extensive municipal surveys regularly since the 1990s. The last similar municipal survey was carried out in the spring of 2020.
The survey provides municipalities with researched information to support decision-making and develop operations. The first results are expected in early autumn 2024.
According to Marianne Pekola-Sjöblom, Research Manager at the Association of Finnish Local and Regional Authorities, it is extremely important that the residents who receive the questionnaire feel that they are part of the issue and actively respond to the survey.
- To ensure the coverage and reliability of the research, it would be good to get the response rate of the survey as high as possible. In our previous similar survey, the response rate was 35,4, says Pekola-Sjöblom.
46 municipalities included - a representative sample of the Finnish municipal field
The survey is sent to a total of 32 municipal residents of full age with the help of a sample from the Population Register Center. The municipality-specific samples vary from 900 to 300 people. The municipality-specific samples are mainly determined by the size of the municipality.

The municipalities included are Asikkala, Askola, Espoo, Hamina, Hattula, Hirvensalmi, Hollola, Hämeenlinna, Ilomantsi, Inari, Jyväskylä, Kankaanpää, Keitele, Kemiönsaari, Keuruu, Kirkkonummi, Kitee, Kuusamo, Lappajärvi, Lappeenranta, Lapua, Mikkeli, Mustasaari, Naantali, Nivala, Oulainen, Parkano, Petäjävesi, Pielavesi, Pirkkala, Pudasjärvi, Puolanka, Raasepori, Raisio, Rautalampi, Salo, Sipoo, Säkylä, Toholampi, Tornio, Turku, Vaasa, Vantaa, Virolahti, Virrat and Vöyri.
