In recent years, concerns about the well-being of children and young people have often made headlines and raised concerns among parents and society at large. The results of the latest School Health Survey are accompanied by positive signals, such as the higher school-going attitude of middle school students compared to the rest of the country and the lower symptoms of exhaustion among upper secondary school students compared to the rest of the country. However, the results also indicate a worrying development, and for example, anxiety symptoms have continued to increase even among primary school students. The expansion of the range of nicotine products is visible, as more young people than before say that they have tried or even regularly use nicotine products (according to the results, young people use nicotine pouches and electronic cigarettes the most). The number of people using alcohol has also increased, especially in secondary school, and unfortunately, binge drinking has also increased.

The City of Kankaanpää, in collaboration with FinFami Satakunta and SPR Satakunta, is organizing a parents' evening on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at 18 pm in the Kankaanpää Hall (Kangasmoisionkatu 1). At the Parents' Evening, we will delve into the current challenges of the well-being of children and young people and how parents and other adults can support them in everyday life. Experts will provide information and perspectives for guardians regarding substance use and mental health challenges. During the evening, a guardian's experience will also be heard and listeners will have the opportunity to ask advice from experts.

Welcome to join us to listen, discuss and strengthen your own parenting - together we can do a lot for the well-being of children and young people.
