Kankaanpää is a well-known city of culture and art, home to, among other things, the visual arts unit of Satakunta University of Applied Sciences, the Kankaanpää Art School, and the Kankaanpää Music Institute, which operates in several municipalities and offers basic art education in music. The Kankaanpää City Museum offers an overview of both visual arts and history with its collections, and the recently renovated and renewed city library serves as a meeting place for residents.

Combined with a diverse association sector, the activity of these actors is reflected in a rich offering of events, concerts and exhibitions throughout the year. All this is crowned by the art circle, which is visible in the everyday life of every resident of the municipality and offers inspiration, and is a unique open-air gallery with over a hundred works.

– Culture and art are strongly present in Kankaanpää. For example, the art circle is used a lot in early childhood education and teaching, and cooperation between different cultural actors is very diverse, says the Director of Education Heikki Kiviniemi.

Library Director and Museum Director positions open

Two key positions in the cultural sector are now open, as new people are being sought for both library and museum management.

– It is exceptional that in a city the size of Kankaanpää, two such high-profile cultural jobs are open at the same time. We hope to attract interesting people with strong professional backgrounds in their own fields to apply for the positions, says Kiviniemi.

The duties of the library director include being responsible for library services and their development, and the duties of the museum director include taking care of the city's art collections in addition to museum operations. Both positions require good cooperation and interaction skills and an innovative approach to cultural work.

Applications for the position of Library Director close on 11.10 October at 15 pm and work will begin on 1.11 November or as agreed. Applications for the position of Museum Director close on 12.10 October at 12 pm and work will begin at the beginning of next year or as agreed.
