The city of Kankaanpää is adapting its event production to suit the times. Earlier this spring, a national youth theatre event was announced. Ramp fever from being organized virtually, now the traditional Hörhiäisviikko will also be held online.

The 2020 Hörhiäisviikko will be held in September after the virtual Ramppikuume event in week 38. The week ends with Kankaanpää Day.

Broadcast online mainly from Kankaanpääsali, the Hörhiäisviikko will include music, culture, history, exercise and well-being, as is the case with traditional events.

– Of course, the program includes the Hörhiäisyö, which you can participate in from your own sofa, says the city's culture and youth coordinator Ullamarja Kontiainen. – The selection of the Hörhiäinen of the Year is also part of the evening's program.

New implementation enables a wider audience

In the planning of the Hörhiäisviikko, many new perspectives on the possibilities of the event have been found.

– The plan is to compile diverse content for the program, taking into account different target groups, says Kontiainen. Cooperation with daycare centers, schools and nursing homes is being considered. – The program will include, for example, a program aimed at children in the morning and a program of interest to older people in the afternoon, Kontiainen continues.

– In terms of implementation, we have a good starting point for both Ramppikuume and the Hörhiäisviikko event, praises Kontiainen. – The city has its own professional staff, its own equipment and a good framework ready.

The implementation via the Internet also creates new opportunities for the city's visibility. “In an event that is implemented online, in principle anyone can follow the program,” says the Marketing and Communications Manager. Johanna Luotolinna. – This brings completely new opportunities for utilizing the event to increase the city's awareness.

Trustees also trust remote connections

The Kankaanpää City Council met remotely for the first time in its history in May. The meeting, which included decisions on the municipal merger with Honkajoki Municipality, went smoothly thanks to good remote preparations and functioning connections.

The June City Council meeting has been decided to be held remotely instead of the traditional meeting at the market square. The meeting will be held on Monday, June 15.6th at 18 pm and can be followed live. from the city's YouTube channel.

Other city councils also meet mainly via remote connections.
