The Early Childhood Education Data Warehouse (Varda) is a new national data warehouse to be implemented on 1.1.2019 January XNUMX, which contains information on early childhood education providers, early childhood education facilities, children in early childhood education, children's guardians and early childhood education personnel. The Early Childhood Education Data Warehouse is regulated by the Early Childhood Education Act. The data warehouse is used, among other things, to promote the development and decision-making of early childhood education, to compile statistics and research on early childhood education, and to perform official tasks. The Finnish National Board of Education is responsible for maintaining the early childhood education data warehouse.
According to the Early Childhood Education Act, municipalities and joint municipal authorities are obliged to store information about the early childhood education provider and locations, as well as children's information, in Varda from 1.1.2019 January XNUMX. The data to be stored includes personal data about children in early childhood education. The personal data about a child to be stored in Varda are:
- name, personal identification number, native language, municipality of residence and contact information
- establishment where the child is in early childhood education
- date of submission of the application
- the start and end date of the decision or agreement
- the hourly scope of the right to early childhood education and the information related to its use
- information about organizing early childhood education as day care
- form of organizing early childhood education
In addition, the following personal data of the data subject is linked to Varda through the learner number register maintained by the Finnish National Board of Education:
- name, learner number and personal identification number or other similar identification information, nationality, gender, native language and necessary contact information.
Our municipality will transfer data from the operational early childhood education information system to Vardaa through system integration during spring 2019, but no later than April 30.4.2019, XNUMX.
