The traditional Hörhiäisviikko in late August, 22–27.8.2023 August XNUMX, offers a variety of music, art, history, exercise, well-being, delicious food and a nice market spirit! The week of events culminates in the Hörhiäis weekend, as usual. The program for the week is organized by the city and associations and other partners.
Get moving physically
The event week will kick off on Tuesday, August 22.8nd, when the city's sports services will organize a fun-filled event for the whole family at the sports center's lean-to. The traditional Hörhiäis fitness orienteering event of the Kankaanpää Orienteering Club will be organized again in the vicinity of the school center. There will also be an orienteering course for the little ones in the family. Tuesday's program will also include a Listening Walk organized by the city museum, led by visual artist Kirsi Jaakkola, around the museum.
Several musical performances and other fun things
The week's program also includes concerts from the music institute, the bus tour of the VIIVA book "Objects from the Book Live", the museum's Old Photographs, Laavuiltä in Niinisalo, a presentation of the results of the municipal artist's workshops in the Kankaanpääsalli, a backyard concert by the combined brass band of Isojoki and Karvia behind the library, a musical performance by "Pidä halka" in the blessing chapel, a baseball match between the council and the press at the stadium, a recycling point for children's clothes and goods in the Hörhiäistental, a church concert by Teemu Roivainen, and at the end of the week, a performance combining circus and musical theatre by Säilättärien on the Venesjärvi beach stage, as well as the Hörhiäistanssit, featuring the fresh tango kings.
Local food event returns to the weekend program
The Hörhiäis weekend will bring a market atmosphere to Kankaanpää market square from Friday evening, 25.8. to Saturday evening, 26.8. The Hörhiäis tent at LC Kankaanpää and LC Kankaanpää/Kuninkaanlähte and the market vendors at the market square will be open from the afternoon until late at night on both days. On Friday, there will be live gigs on the market square stage and of course the traditional announcement of the Hörhiäis of the year. The music institute band, party band Remix and local rock band V1 will take to the stage.
Saturday's program will return with the popular Herkutellän local food event, which will be held during the day in the Hörhiäistelta. During the event, Eveliina and Eerik Eloranta will perform musical performances. After the feast, it is worth moving to the market square stage to enjoy a song performed by Sara Männistö accompanied by Amyrit. There will be another program for children in the Kankaanpääsali, in the form of Children's Saturday. The evening program will include a karaoke competition in the Hörhiäistelta and rock bands CN and Bold Roosters on the market square stage.
