A new dog park has been opened in Kankaanpää. The park aims to serve all dog enthusiasts in the area in the most diverse way possible.

The dog park was designed in collaboration with the city and the Kankaanpää Dog Enthusiasts Association. Dog enthusiasts were also able to influence the choice of location by voting on different options. The Kankaanpää City Technical Center was responsible for the implementation of the park. The association is responsible for the care and maintenance of the area. The city provides the equipment needed for care and is also responsible for the structures in the area and their maintenance.

– The dog park has been designed together with dog owners to serve everyone as well as possible. The basic idea is to engage the user base in the new service and make the activity reciprocal, says the city gardener. Ilpo Möttönen.

The dog park is located at the end of Niementie, behind the Pohjanlinna school center, near the training fields and the Petäjäinen daycare center. It has a size of 3000 square meters and is surrounded by a two-meter steel mesh fence. The dog park has a maintenance booth, and there are both access and maintenance gates to the area. LED lighting has also been installed in the park.

– This new area is a real luxury for dog enthusiasts. The cooperation with the city was really nice and they took the enthusiasts' wishes into account, praises the chairman of the Kankaanpää Dog Enthusiasts Association Priska Helkamäki.

The new dog park is now open to everyone. The city and dog enthusiasts are reminded to observe the rules for using the area. The rules can be found on the wall of the dog park booth.
