Fire and rescue services
Rescue operations include receiving alarms, warning the population, preventing an impending accident, protecting and rescuing accident victims and people at risk, the environment and property, extinguishing fires and limiting damage. Rescue operations also include management, communication, maintenance and support activities related to these tasks.
Rescue operations are initiated by making an emergency report to the emergency number 112. The emergency center will alert the necessary personnel and equipment depending on the situation. Urgent rescue operations are free of charge for those in need of help.
The Satakunta Welfare Area is responsible for organizing fire and rescue operations in the Kankaanpää city area. Satakunta Rescue Department. In the city administration, the technical committee is responsible for rescue operations.
Chimney sweeping
The owner, occupier or operator of the building is responsible for ensuring that fireplaces and chimneys on the premises are swept regularly and appropriately.
The amendment to the Rescue Act regarding chimney sweeping services entered into force on 1 January 2019. The obligation for rescue services to arrange chimney sweeping services in their area was removed. Regional district sweeping contracts will expire no later than 30 June 2019. The entire country will transition to the free provision of chimney sweeping services.
