Real estate waste containers

In Kankaanpää, all residential properties and leisure properties must have at least one waste container for mixed waste, which is emptied by a waste transport company approved in the waste management register in accordance with the emptying intervals of the waste management regulation. For mixed waste, waste transport is arranged by the property owner in Kankaanpää, in which case the property owner is responsible for purchasing the waste container and waste transport. The waste container can be used either by one property or by several properties.

Conditions for using a shared waste container

1. The waste management authority and the waste transport company must be notified of the start, end or change of the shared use of waste containers. The notification must include the contact details of the contact person responsible for use and maintenance, the location and size of the shared waste container, and information about the properties using the shared waste container. The notification of a shared waste container to the waste management authority can be made either by filling out an online notification form or by sending a printed shared waste container form by post.

2. The waste container used may be used by only one property or by several properties located nearby in accordance with a mutual agreement. In built-up areas, properties located nearby include neighbouring properties and properties located on the same road or highway in sparsely populated areas. The use of shared waste containers by properties other than those located nearby requires a decision to deviate from the waste management regulations issued by the waste management authority, for example, a shared waste container for a leisure and permanent residence in Kankaanpää, when the properties are not located as neighbours in a built-up area or along the same road in a sparsely populated area.

3. The volume and emptying interval of a waste container in common use must always be sized according to the amount of waste in the properties using it and comply with the waste-specific emptying interval requirements of the waste management regulations.

4. Just like a waste container on one property, a shared waste container must also be located in an area owned by one of the properties using the container. A shared waste container should not be placed, for example, on a street or outside the boundaries of the property. If there is no space for a shared waste container in the area owned by the properties planning to use it, or if it is desired to be placed outside the boundaries of the properties using it for other reasons, the consent of the landowner of the location and, if necessary, a permit from the city's building authority is required.

5. In addition to mixed waste, common waste containers can also be used to collect other separately collected recyclable waste types, such as composting biowaste.

 

The city's environmental protection authority may intervene in the use of a shared container, issue regulations or prohibit the use of a shared collection site or container if the use causes harm to health, the environment or littering. The waste management authority may, by decision, discontinue the use of a shared container in whole or in part if there are repeated negligence in the maintenance and use of the shared container.
