Metal (scrap metal, small metal and metal packaging)
Collection and reception of metal waste
Metal collection in Kankaanpää
In Kankaanpää, metal packaging and small metals are collected separately from properties with at least five apartments in urban areas in waste transport organized by the city.
Metal waste and scrap metal from properties with fewer than five apartments are received at sorting and Rinki points. Large metal scrap that does not fit in the property's waste container can be brought to the Kooninkeita sorting station free of charge. The metal is delivered for processing into recycled metals. In 2025, the separately collected metals were mainly delivered to Fincumet Oy in Ikaalisi.
Metal waste collection includes:
- all metal pieces of different sizes (the largest ones are for Kooninkeitaa)
- deposit-free canned food and soft drink packaging
- metal lids and caps, including lids for yoghurt pots
- aluminum pans and foil
- empty and dry paint cans
- empty aerosol cans
- metal casings from used candles
- metal containers, such as pots
- metal tools
- cutlery
How do I know if it's a thin metal object or metal-colored plastic?
The wrinkle test tells you whether an object is plastic or metal. Thin metal objects will remain wrinkled when wrinkled (e.g. a yogurt jar lid), while metallic plastic will straighten itself (a bag of chips and a coffee carton).
