Plastic packaging refers to plastic packaging for household food and other products, such as:

  • bread bags,
  • minced meat packages,
  • coffee bags,
  • candy wrappers,
  • bags of chips,
  • yogurt cups,
  • plastic caps (on bottles and cans),
  • and easily wrinkled plastic items, such as detergent packaging, plastic bottles and canisters (empty), Styrofoam and foam plastic, plastic pipes and tubes

 

How do I know if the waste is plastic and how should I deal with it?

Plastic waste does NOT need to be washed or rinsed thoroughly, a light rinse may be necessary to prevent odors if you store plastic waste in your home for longer periods. At the plastic packaging processing plant, the plastic is washed several times before the detection equipment.

Remove the caps and lids of plastic packaging, as well as other easily detachable parts, as often the easily detachable parts in packaging can be made of different plastic types.

When you bring plastic waste to the sorting point, the opening of the waste container is intentionally small. THE INTENT IS NOT TO PUT A CLOSED BAG INTO THE WASTE CONTAINER AT ONE TIME, just open the bag and empty the contents into the waste container. The container has a small opening to prevent unwanted waste types and oversized waste. When you leave the point, press the green button on the side of the waste container to start compacting the waste.
