Pressure-treated wood, or durable wood
Pressure-treated wood and durable wood are wood that has been treated to be weather-resistant and can be identified by its color: the wood is usually greenish, grayish, or a special brown. In households, pressure-treated wood can be used, for example, for terrace boards, pergolas, children's climbing frames, sandbox edges, and wooden parts of piers. Railway sleepers and lamp posts are not considered durable wood for households.
Permanent wood should absolutely NOT be BURNT at home, as burning releases gases that are hazardous to health and permanent wood is classified as hazardous waste. Older permanent wood structures in particular may contain hazardous preservatives that have been discontinued.
The impregnated wood is crushed into wood chips and the metal fasteners are removed before it is utilized in heat and electricity production intended for hazardous waste.
