Wastewater treatment 

In Kankaanpää, wastewater is treated at three wastewater treatment plants. The central wastewater treatment plant, located near the center of Kankaanpää, treats wastewater generated in the Kankaanpää urban area. Wastewater in the Honkajoki area is treated at the Honkajoki wastewater treatment plant. In addition, Venesjärvi has its own wastewater treatment plant. 

Wastewater treatment is the process of removing impurities and pollutants from wastewater before it is returned to the environment. The wastewater treatment process consists of mechanical, chemical and biological steps. Wastewater treatment is an important environmental protection measure that helps maintain the purity of water bodies and protects both nature and human health. 

Sewer User Manual 

Due to the functioning of the sewer, it is important that nothing that does not belong there is put down the sewer. Only dishwashing and washing water, toilet paper and the end product of toilet emergencies are intended to end up in the treatment plant through the sewer. 

Never pour into drains: 

1. Grease and oils: They can cause drain blockages and hinder wastewater treatment processes. 
2. Chemicals: For example, paints, solvents, pesticides and medicines should not be flushed down the drain as they can harm the environment and make it difficult to clean up wastewater. 
3. Medicines: Medicines should not be flushed down the drain as they can end up in waterways and cause harmful effects on aquatic life and the environment. 
4. Chemical cleaners: Certain strong cleaners can be harmful to the environment and the sewer system. 
5. Other solids: For example, old medicines, expired food, old cosmetics and other solid waste should be disposed of properly at household waste collection points and not put down the drain. 

These instructions help maintain the functioning of the sewage system and reduce environmental damage.
