Kankaanpää City Water Supply Plant's operational areas

The water supply company must have an operating area approved by the municipality. The operating area must cover those areas where the connection of properties to the water supply company's water supply and sewerage network is necessary due to actual or planned community development. According to the Water Supply Act, the operating area must be such that the water supply company can be considered to have the financial and technical capabilities to provide the water supply for which it is responsible in an appropriate and reliable manner.

According to Section 10 of the Water Supply Act, a property located in an approved operating area must, as a rule, be connected to the water supply company's networks.

The operational area of ​​the Kankaanpää City Water Supply and Sewerage Authority includes the operational areas of the water supply and sewerage networks, which mainly cover the town plan and urban areas. The operational area was last updated on 21 September 2009. The Honkajoki operational area was approved by the technical committee on 22 August 2018, but the approval process reportedly did not progress further. Honkajoki municipality was merged into Kankaanpää on 1 January 2021.

The current maps were approved at the Kankaanpää City Council meeting on 10 November 2025, Section 69.

The operational areas have been demarcated based on existing and planned networks, and property boundaries have been used as the demarcation. The population development of the city of Kankaanpää is predicted to be declining, so there is no need for significant expansions of the operational area.
