Notification and permit procedure for activities under the Health Protection Act

The operator must submit a written notification to the municipal health protection authority of the following activities no later than 30 days before commencing the activity:

• accommodation apartment
• gymnasium and other sports facilities open to the public, sauna, spa, indoor swimming pool, swimming pool and beach
• kindergarten and club, as well as an educational institution providing pre-school or basic education, vocational education, upper secondary education or higher education and the place where the teaching is organised
• a social welfare unit providing continuous care and a reception centre
• tanning salon, tattoo parlor, beauty salon, and other premises where skin treatments are performed
• any other apartment or facility or activity that may cause a health hazard, taking into account the number of users or the nature of the activity

A utility supplying domestic water must apply for approval of its operations from the municipal health protection authority no later than three months before the planned start of operations. Domestic water may not be supplied until the facility has been approved.
