- for those who have symptoms of a respiratory infection, but movement outside the home is necessary
- for those who know they have been exposed to coronavirus (e.g. infections have been confirmed in the family) and close contact outside the home cannot be avoided.

- in healthcare facilities (hospitals, health centers, clinics, oral health care units, etc.)
- 24-hour care units
- in disability services treatment units
- in institutional and home care for the elderly
The recommendation applies to both staff and customers, patients and visitors.
It is always recommended that those with symptoms stay at home until their symptoms subside.
Everyone can continue to wear a mask at their own discretion, for example in indoor areas where avoiding close contact is difficult. In particular, unvaccinated people and those who are at risk of severe COVID-19 despite vaccination should consider using a mask that also effectively protects the wearer.

What should I do if I suspect an infection?
Symptoms of a respiratory infection caused by COVID may include fever, cough, runny nose, shortness of breath, sore throat, loss of smell and taste, headache, unusual fatigue, malaise and decreased general condition, chest tightness and/or muscle pain, and intestinalsto symptoms.
Even if you have only mild symptoms, stay home, as even asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic people can spread the disease. If you have symptoms, do not go to work, school, or hobbies, and do not meet with friends or relatives.
Mild coronavirus symptoms usually do not require testing – avoid contact for five days
Coronavirus infections have increased sharply as the omicron variant spreads rapidly in Finland. The virus is contagious even before symptoms appear and the incubation period is short. This has led to infection tracing becoming largely ineffective.
The current coronavirus vaccines protect against severe coronavirus disease, but they do not protect against infection very well. For the majority of those infected, omicron causes mild disease.
If you are in good general health, have good general health, and have mild respiratory symptoms, there is usually no need to contact healthcare or seek a healthcare coronavirus test.
However, THL recommends that you voluntarily avoid contact with people other than those living in the same household. at least for five days and must be symptom-free for at least two days before returning to work or school.
If symptoms last more than 3 days, have a high fever and/or develop shortness of breath and/or a general decline in condition, it is necessary to contact a healthcare provider. If you receive personal instructions from your healthcare provider, such as getting tested, isolating or quarantining, follow them.
If you are symptomatic, contact should be avoided, even if the home test result is negative. If the home test is positive, it is usually not necessary to confirm the result with a test performed in a healthcare facility.
Always contact your healthcare provider without delay if your condition requires it.
A corona sample is taken at a health center or occupational health care.
Assess your symptoms on the omaolo.fi website or, if necessary, call your local health center or occupational health care to book an appointment.
It is highly recommended to download the Koronavilkku smartphone application, which helps break infection chains.
It can be downloaded for free. koronavilkku.fi page and in app stores. Koronavilkku is an application produced by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare THL, which allows you to find out if you have been exposed to coronavirus according to the application's assessment. If you are diagnosed with an infection, you can report it anonymously using the application. Your privacy is strongly protected in the application.
