The Hörhiäisviikko (Happiness Week) will once again bring a diverse range of events and experiences to Kankaanpää at the end of August. The event week, which runs from Tuesday 25 August to Sunday 30 August, offers a cultural program, culinary experiences and traditional market excitement for visitors of all ages. The city, associations and other partners are responsible for organizing the week's diverse program. 

The program includes, among other things, the traditional Hörhiäis fitness orienteering, this time as a city sprint, Tommi Tuominen's stand-up performance, concerts by music school teachers, a guided Taidekehäkierros tour, Old photographs, Laavuiltä, ​​Pidä halka concert, a baseball match between the council and the press, Children's Saturday, Hörhiäis gospel and, at the end of the week, Arja Koriseva's church concert.

Vatajankoski, celebrating its anniversary, as a partner

Vatajankoski Oy is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. To celebrate the anniversary, the company is participating in the Hörhiäis weekend as a partner of the city.

"It's great to have Vatajankoski join the event week this year. Mikko Harju, who will be performing on Saturday, is their featured performer, and the anniversary year will also be visible on Friday and Saturday around the market stage, and they also have their own presentation tent in the market," says the city's marketing and communications manager. Leena Kuusimäki.

The Hörhiäis weekend brings a market atmosphere to the Kankaanpää market square on Friday, August 28 and Saturday, August 29. The Hörhiäis tent and market vendors at LC Kankaanpää and LC Kankaanpää/Kuninkaanlähte will be open from the afternoon until late at night on both days. On Friday evening, live performers and the always interesting announcement of the Hörhiäis of the year will be enjoyed on the market stage. Pasi Nieminen and former students of the music institute, Elonkerjuu, and the evening's closing band, Bilebändi Revolveri, will take to the stage.

Saturday's program at the market square will start with the popular Herkutellän local food event, which will be held during the day in the Hörhiäistelta. During the event, performances by students from the music institute will be heard. After the feast, people will move to the market square stage to enjoy a performance by Antti Paalanen, who is familiar from UMK. The music offering will continue with Mikko Harju, after which there will be a karaoke competition in the Hörhiäistelta and the finale on the market square stage. The evening will end with the PARICA band on stage.
