The Hörhiäisviikko event week held at the end of August once again crowns the summer in Kankaanpää. The week of events, which runs from Monday 25 August to Sunday 31 August, offers visitors plenty of cultural experiences, delicious food and a cheerful market atmosphere. The city, associations and other partners are responsible for organizing the week's diverse program.

The program includes, among other things, the traditional Hörhiäis fitness orienteering, the music institute's Disney concert and the Pieni iltasoitto concerts, guest author Hilla Blomberg, the museum's Old Photographs, interactive portrait workshops at the Kankaanpää Gallery, Laavuiltä in Niinisalo, the Pidä halkala concert in the chapel, Hörhiäispolun Surinat in the backyard of the sports center, a baseball match between the council and the press at the stadium, Maria Lund's church concert, and at the end of the week, the Hörhiäis dances on the Venesjärvi waterfront stage, led by the latest tango kings.

Garrison evening devotion returns to the program

The Niinisalo garrison's evening devotion, last held in 2014 on the grounds of the high school, will return to the Hörhiäisviiko program. The Pori Brigade is responsible for implementing the devotion.

– The event was once popular and has been welcomed back. To start off Monday evening, the Navy Band will perform a marching band on the hill, after which the evening devotion will begin. There will also be a sales truck from the military home, says the Marketing and Communications Manager of the City of Kankaanpää. Leena Kuusimäki.

The Hörhiäis weekend brings a market atmosphere to Kankaanpää market square on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 August. The Hörhiäis tent and market vendors at LC Kankaanpää and LC Kankaanpää/Kuninkaanlähte will be open from the afternoon until late at night on both days. On Friday evening, live performers and the always interesting announcement of the Hörhiäis of the year will be on the market stage. Local band Lovettu, Katri Ylander and the closing act of the evening, Mustat Enkelit, will take to the stage.

Saturday's program begins with the Herkutellaan local food event, which will be held during the day in the Hörhiäistelta. During the event, students from the music school will perform. After the feast, it is worth moving to the square stage to enjoy the rock and folk-tinged folk music of the Pirulainen band. As usual, there will be a program for children in the Kankaanpääsali Event Hall on the occasion of Children's Saturday. The music on the square stage will continue with Ricardo "RICU" Grönfors and Eveliina Eloranta and The Old Ones, after which there will be a karaoke competition in the Hörhiäistelta and the finale on the square stage. At the end of the evening, Saana and Velocity One will take the stage.
