Lauhanvuori–Hämeenkangas Geopark received UNESCO Global Geopark status in the summer and became part of the global Geopark network. The Geopark is a joint brand of internationally significant geological sites and is hoped to increase tourism in the area. Kankaanpää is one of the 10 Geopark municipalities in the region.
