The summer in Kankaanpää has traditionally ended with the Hörhiäisviikko (Horhiäis Week) held in late August, where people have enjoyed a diverse program organized by the city, associations and other parties. Sports center opening week as part of the program
The Hörhiäisviikko program includes an opening week consisting of themed days for the renovated sports center. Tuesday is a theme day for seniors, Wednesday for youth, Thursday for young adults, and Friday for families with children. The program for the days is designed to suit each target group.
Other events during the week include performances by the music school, a mural party at Taidekehä, lean-to nights in Niinisalo, backyard dances behind the library, the closing ceremony of the Purkutalo exhibition, a baseball match between the council and the press, and the Elo Festival with national costume displays in Veneskoski.
On Friday 26.8 August, there will be live gigs on the market stage and of course the traditional selection of the Hörhiäinen of the year. The Hurina and Suurimaa bands and the party band Sekslaatio will take to the stage. As usual, Olli Mustaniemi will host Friday night. On Saturday, there will be a program for children in the Kankaanpääsalli, the Volttivapaat band on the market stage, and a karaoke competition in the Hörhiäinen tent. The city is responsible for the concerts on Friday and Saturday, and LC Kankaanpää and LC Kankaanpään Kuninkaanlähde are responsible for the Hörhiäinen market and tent on the market.
