Housing projects
A vibrant and developing city invests and builds. Over the past 10 years, major property renovation and development projects have been carried out in Kankaanpää, which have significantly improved the level of service provision in the city. The city council will approve the investment program in connection with the budget process.
Completed projects
Basic Service Center Tapala renovation project (2018-2022)
Tapala Main Health Centre is located in Kankaanpää, in the 4th district (Tapala). The building complex was built in the 1980s and expanded in the 1990s. The renovation project for the main health centre includes, among other things, the renovation of the emergency clinic, the updating of the inpatient ward premises (on floors 1 and 2), the relocation of the physiotherapy premises, the renovation and expansion of the institutional kitchen and canteen, yard arrangements and the relocation of the dental clinic premises to the main health centre. The total budget of the project is approximately 12 million euros.
Sports center renovation and development project (2017-2022)
The sports centre is the heart of the city, offering a wide range of sports opportunities for sports enthusiasts of all ages, sizes and levels. The swimming pool services, indoor sports facilities, ice rink, outdoor fields and good outdoor areas create an excellent framework for practicing health sports and competitive sports. The sports centre is undergoing extensive renovation. In phase 1, in 2017-2018, the program included the renovation and expansion of the athletics field, the “old part”, the renewal of the ice rink’s refrigeration technology and the improvement of the ice rink’s courtyard area. In 2018-2019, the swimming pool will undergo a major renovation, and in 2021, the ball sports hall will be renovated as a separate project. All facilities will be modernised and outdated technology will be renewed to meet today’s requirements. The total budget for the project is approximately 14 million euros.

Kankaanpää City Library (2017-2018)
The renovation and expansion of the Kankaanpää City Library was one of the last state-funded library construction projects in Finland. The expansion gave the library an additional 400m of space.2, with a total space now totaling 1200m2. This corresponds to the national size recommendation for libraries. The total budget of the project was approximately 2,5 million euros, of which the state grant granted by the Regional State Administrative Agency for Southwest Finland was 750 euros and the city's own share was 000 million euros.
Kankaanpää city center school
The largest comprehensive school in Kankaanpää was renovated in 2014-2016. The total budget of the project was approximately 6,6 million euros.
Kankaanpää School Center / Pohjanlinna School
The project was implemented in 2013-2014. The Pohjanlinna school was renovated in a variety of ways. At the same time, the auditorium connected to the school center was expanded and equipped with high-quality presentation and lifting technology. The auditorium is now known as “Kankaanpääsali”In addition, the administrative premises of the cultural center were renovated, among other things.
