Support services
The Support Services Unit is responsible for providing cleaning, food service and IT management services to all city service centres. The Support Services Unit was established in early 2002 as a result of the reorganisation of operations carried out at that time. Support services fall under the responsibility of the Administration Centre.
By specializing in its own task, the support service unit enables other municipal service providers to focus on their own basic task. Services are produced for customers within the city organization on a cost-effective basis and services are sold primarily to the city's own organization. Services can also be sold to subsidiaries of the city group and outside the group. Services are produced in accordance with the city strategy, taking into account alternative and diverse ways of producing services.
Cleaning and catering
The cleaning service is responsible for the cleaning of the city's properties and offices. The cleaning service employs 17 people. Some of the cleaning is outsourced to cleaning companies. Cleaning includes maintenance cleaning, which is carried out 1–7 times a week, depending on the property, and basic cleaning, which is carried out once a year, mainly in the summer.
The food service provides nutritional services to the city's service centers according to agreements. The main business is school lunches, which are prepared at three different locations: a city center school, a nursing home, and a central kitchen, from which lunch is delivered to village schools and daycare centers.
We offer our customers diverse, high-quality and healthy food at cost price, taking into account the nutritional recommendations of different groups. 23 people work in the food service.
Approximately 2400 lunches are prepared per day. Most of the customers are from other service centers in the city; daycare centers, schools and a nursing home. External customers include service centers and homes, city personnel and home service customers who receive a hot lunch delivered to their homes every day of the year.
In addition to lunch, we provide other meals for the day at nursing homes, from breakfast to dinner. We deliver breakfast and snacks to daycare centers, and we serve snacks for students for a fee.
Information management
The IT department is responsible for, among other things, the maintenance and development of the city's information systems, workstation maintenance, network maintenance and development, IT procurement, licensing issues and information security. In addition, the IT department provides email and calendar services and server resources to several partners.
The IT department maintains over 1200 workstations and 25 server computers. The workstations to be maintained are located in approximately 50 different locations in the Kankaanpää area. Maintenance services have been outsourced to Netorek Oy.
