Differentiating Municipality Finland 2025 research programme

Kankaanpää was one of 43 municipalities in the Association of Finnish Local and Regional Authorities' research programme, Distinctive Municipality Finland 2025. The survey conducted is one of the most extensive surveys mapping the views of local residents. The Association of Finnish Local and Regional Authorities has conducted similar municipal surveys of a similar scope regularly since the 1990s. The most recent municipal surveys were conducted as part of the ARTTU2 research programme in 2015 and 2017. Kankaanpää was also involved in these studies.

Regional cities attractiveness study

Kankaanpää is one of 57 Finnish regional cities. A regional city is the center of its own region or area. In early 2022, Finland's regional cities jointly conducted a study on the awareness, image and attractiveness of cities. The study was a follow-up to a similar survey conducted in 2019. In the case of Kankaanpää, the results show that we have a lot of internal potential that is worth highlighting by increasing awareness. The image has improved slightly compared to the previous study. As in the previous study year of 2019, the common key attractiveness factors of regional cities are considered to be safety, living environment and transport accessibility.

Arttu2 research program

The City of Kankaanpää participated in the Arttu2 research program implemented by the Association of Finnish Local and Regional Authorities, which aimed to examine the impacts of changes implemented in municipalities and future reforms on municipalities and their residents. The program started in late 2014 and ended in spring 2018. The research program involved 40 research municipalities, representing municipalities of different sizes and types from all over Finland.

The results of the Arttu2 program were presented at the Kankaanpää City Council seminar in October 2018.
