Cultural environment
In Kankaanpää, the importance of the built environment has always been seen as an essential strength of the city, influencing the choice of place to live and the location decisions of the business community. Good and determined land use and building planning, as well as the cooperation of residents, officials and elected representatives, have created a functional and beautiful urban environment.
Compiled by Maija Anttila VIIVA, a book about modern architecture designed in Kankaanpää is intended for anyone interested in the development of our city or in urban planning, architecture and art in general. The book was published as a book celebrating the 50th anniversary of the city of Kankaanpää in 2022. In addition to the main library, the book can be purchased from SataKirja, the city museum and the Kankaanpää Gallery.

Buildings, public outdoor spaces and parks with their environmental artworks form an everyday and festive environment valued by city residents.
Based on its industrial tradition, Kankaanpää has guided developers to use red brick in public construction as well as in residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
