School of Fine Arts
SAMK Kankaanpää School of Fine Arts is a higher education institution where you can complete a university of applied sciences degree in the field of culture and graduate as a visual artist (BA).
The School of Fine Arts has a long and impressive history. The story of the art school begins in the 1950s and 60s, when Kankaanpää was already a vibrant center of fine arts, when active art professionals such as sculptor Kauko Räike, painter Juhani Tarna and printmaker Ensio Lamberg were active in Kankaanpää.
Lively interaction and a desire to make regional policies for the visual arts gave birth to the Kankaanpää Art Association and the art school it maintained in 1965. It was the first art school in our country outside the large urban areas of the south. The school's colorful history is intertwined with the years of the city's vibrant growth. Its position was established in the late 1980s with the municipalization of the school and the completion of a new building in 1995. Currently, the school is part of the Satakunta University of Applied Sciences.
