Ski slopes and skating areas

For ski enthusiasts, Kankaanpää and the surrounding terrain offer a variety of options, and there are also many opportunities for skating, starting from the ice rink. The main starting points for the trails are the sports center, the Viidentienristeys intersection and the Kuninkaanlähde. The trails heading towards Niinisalo are managed by the sports services of the city of Kankaanpää and the Pori Brigade. The trails in the villages are managed in cooperation by the sports services and village committees. The lights on the illuminated trails turn on at dusk and turn off at 22 p.m., except for the smart trail.

There are skating areas in both villages and the city center. Skating opportunities are available at various areas in the city and at the Kankaanpää Ice Rink, which is open from August to Easter. The ice rink has public skating hours on Sundays: 9–10 a.m. without rackets, 10–11 a.m. with rackets.

Be considerate of other skiers.
Ski the right-hand ski slope. Pass on the left.
Maintain sufficient distance from the skier ahead.
Follow the marked skiing direction.
Faster skiers avoid slower skiers and those skiing alone in line.
Don't ski on the heels of someone in front.
Do not change ski slope during the descent.
Take breaks on the side of the track.
Helping is a duty in the event of an accident.

The ski slopes are intended for skiers only.

A ski slope refers to an area prepared for skiing.
In addition to traditional-style ski slopes, there is a flat area renovated for freestyle skiing.
Walking on the ski slope is prohibited for the safety of users.
The walking ban is based on a law that obliges the ski slope operator to ensure the safety of the ski slopes. Walking on the ski slopes damages the ski slopes and tracks and may cause dangerous situations.
There are plenty of routes available for walkers in Kankaanpää, even in winter.

There is a separate ski slope for dogs at the Viidentienristeys.

Attention has also been paid to the safety of ski slopes in the Public Order Act, according to which the owner of a dog must ensure that the animal does not enter, for example, a public ski slope.
Horse riding and driving horse-drawn vehicles on public trails is also prohibited unless it is indicated by signs as permitted.
