Sports and wellness events
The city's sports services are involved in organizing various sports and well-being events. In addition, the city organizes the Hörhiäisviikko event, which brings together various events in the spirit of the well-being theme.
LiikU – Moving Throu the Year Campaign 2026
Moving through the year is a new three-campaign initiative by LiikU and participating municipalities, consisting of the Winter Activities, Challenge Cycling and Autumn Activities campaigns.
Kankaanpää is included in the municipal ranking in the large municipalities series, so remember to enter the city of Kankaanpää as the municipality. In time January 10 – March 31 You can record winter sports, for example skiing, running, walking, frisbee golf, skating, snowshoeing, mountain biking, kick sledding, cycling, hiking or touring skating. You can also record the kilometers on the machine afterwards. As usual, they can also be recorded on the performance card available from the swimming pool information.
The Challenge Cycling and Winter Exercise mobile applications changed to the Moving Throughout the Year mobile application on January 10, 2023. Download the new application from Google Play or the App Store. The application is identical and your personal information can be found with the old code – personal information – send the code to your email. In the mobile application, you can follow your own exercise history throughout the year and also participate in the campaigns' municipal competitions. Move in winter campaign January 10 – March 31
The aim of the campaign is to challenge and motivate you to get moving, so you can participate in the campaign according to your own mileage goals. The forms of exercise include skiing, walking, Nordic walking, running, snowshoeing, mountain biking, kick sledding, cycling, skating and touring skating, so even a bad winter doesn't stop you from getting moving! Applied exercise has also been taken into account in the campaign, so it is suitable for everyone, regardless of age or level. You can print your performance card here.. Challenge cycling
Municipalities in southwestern Finland compete for cycling kilometers from May Day to Midsummer. In Kankaanpää, cycling kilometers will continue to be recorded until the end of August. There is no longer a box recording, but entries are made using a mobile app or by hand on a challenge cycling card.

Autumn activities September 1 – November 30
Sports include frisbee golf, walking, Nordic walking, running, cycling, mountain biking, canoeing, hiking, roller skiing and skating, swimming, orienteering and applied sports.
Autumn and ski holiday events
Sports and Youth Services organize trips, events and other activities for children and young people during the autumn and ski holidays. Events are announced on the city's website, social media and directly to schools and daycare centers.
Hobby fair
Autumn begins with the traditional hobby fair, where associations and clubs in the area are invited to present their activities. The fair is in two parts: first, schoolchildren can get to know them, and then other interested parties. The aim is to highlight the city's diverse hobby activities and help residents promote their well-being through new hobbies. The fair is organized by the city's sports and youth services.
Hörhiäisviikko event week
The Hörhiäisviikko brings together the activities of the city's great "hörhiäis sector", i.e. associations, clubs and other voluntary actors, and offers a showcase for the positive Kankaanpää spirit and activities. The Hörhiäisviikko, which is held at the end of August, includes music, art, exercise, well-being and a nice market spirit, as well as, of course, the long-awaited Hörhiäis weekend. The week gives local associations and businesses the opportunity to implement and boost their own campaigns and events visibly together. There is room for many larger and smaller, mutually supportive activities.
“Hörhiäinen” is the name given by the people of Kankaanpää to an active and energetic local resident who creates good activities and works for the common good. He is a symbol of the well-being of the people of Kankaanpää. The Hörhiäinen of the year is always chosen in connection with Hörhiäisviikko event week.
