An initiative to change Vuohiniitynpuisto to Ennu Virtanen Park was received in November 2022. The City Planning Board has approved a consultation to be held on December 13, 2022, in the form of an online survey for the name change.

The material regarding the name change of part of the park will be available for comment on the otakantaa.fi service starting November 19, 2025. The material can be commented on until December 4, 2025.

A survey was held about the name change in early 2023, which resulted in nine comments. Five of them were against and four were in favor. Now the area has been delimited and the name change only applies to the immediate vicinity of Ennu Virtanen's last residence.
