Kankaanpää primary education will return to face-to-face teaching for grades 1-9 from May 14.5, in accordance with the legislation for normal conditions.

The distance learning arrangements follow the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the National Institute for Health and Welfare. The Kankaanpää Educational Service has made local implementations based on these guidelines and informed the children's guardians about them.

Various measures and instructions are being taken to ensure that school attendance is safe for both students and staff. Good hygiene remains the most important thing, but efforts are also being made to reduce contact between students, for example by using different stages. Additional facilities have also been put into use for basic education.

General principles of schools

You must not come to school when you are sick. Coronavirus causes a respiratory infection, the symptoms of which can include cough, sore throat, fever, shortness of breath, muscle aches, stomach symptoms and headache. More detailed information can be found on the website of the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare, among others. No child or adult should come to school if they have any symptoms indicating illness.

Classes are kept separate from each other and the number of adults visiting classes is minimized. Meal visits are staggered and groups eating are kept separate from each other. Groups are also kept separate from each other when going out and walking inside the school. People other than children and school staff are avoided on the school grounds. Staff gatherings are avoided and, for example, teacher meetings are organized remotely. Large joint events are not organized.

More attention is paid to hand washing and cleaning than usual. Both adults and children wash their hands every time they come to school, leave home, before eating, when they come in from outside, after sneezing or coughing, and if their hands are visibly dirty. Hands are dried on disposable paper towels or a disposable cloth. Cleaning is increased and made more efficient. The use of shared study equipment is avoided. Hand sanitizer is available in situations where there is no possibility of washing hands, e.g. during school transport.

School days will mainly follow the student's schedule, but the content and rhythm of the lessons will deviate from normal. At Pohjanlinna School, classes will remain as one teaching group in almost all situations. The class supervisor, together with another teaching person (teacher or instructor), is responsible for the activities of the class during the school day. Teachers of different subjects will take care of the teaching content of the lessons. Pick-ups will be carried out according to the schedule, taking into account possible deviations from the schedule.
