The City of Kankaanpää, in collaboration with the Lauhanvuori-Hämeenkangas Geopark project, is organizing unique nature trips to the surrounding area in the summer of 2019. At the beginning of June, the program includes children's Geopark Suviseikkailu nature trips and a family trip, and other Geopark nature trips starting on June 15.6.
Children's Geopark Summer Adventure nature trips is aimed at school children. Children under school age can also participate, but a guardian must be with them on the trip. Some of the trips will be carpooled, so some guardians are welcome.
Family trip Saturday 8.6th June is for the whole family; grandmas and grandpas are welcome too!
Geopark nature tours are open to everyone. The tour guide is nature expert Kristiina Peltomaa. Check out the tours and choose the most interesting ones. However, please pay attention to the tour content description in terms of your own condition and situation. The tours are mainly carpooled, starting from the city hall (Kuninkaanlähteenkatu 12). When registering, please indicate your possible need for a ride or your availability.

Kyynärjärvi birdwatching tower (own rides)
On the trip, we listen to the sounds of birds and solve the riddle of what bird is singing. From the tower, we observe and identify birds based on their plumage and explore what different "celebration costumes" birds actually have.

We go into the forest to make observations and draw conclusions. We estimate the age of the tree, consider what the tree's feeding time is, how it always makes it possible to grow vegetables, and see different forest types. At the end of the trip, we go on a poop hunt. We look for poop from the flying squirrel, which has been in the public eye a lot. The expert on the trip is forester Hannu Raitio.

On the trip, we will see our local earth as a modeling clay, shaped by the ice age. We will look for exciting different rocks and wonder if we could find traces of an ancient volcanic eruption. The expert on the trip is geologist Pasi Talvitie.

Night Singers Bicycle Tour

Departure from the Hirvikangas crossroads.
Listening to the chirping and melodious sounds of night warblers and observing other species. The route runs through the Kyynärjärvi boat ramp, Laurin bridge, Oppaankanga and the Kyynärjärvi bird tower to the starting point at the Hirvikanga junction. The route is approximately 17km long.

NOTE! The tour is done by boat, one participant at a time.

The wonders of spore plants from ferns, mosses and even a few lichens

On the trip, you will get to know ferns, be surprised by the abundance of moss species, and if you have enough time, you will go around looking at the "corals of the North" and lichens.
The hiding places of the palm trees and the sweet places of the groves

We will search for the sedges in their hiding places and get to know a less-noticed group of sedge species.
Trip to Jämijärvi to Soininharju

On the corners of the King's Fountain

A forested swamp trip to the Neva

We will visit Lintukulma on the picturesque Neva. We will learn about the special features of the Neva and the marsh plants. We will exercise, aiming for fitness and well-being from the marsh.
Hämeenkangas trip

During the trip, we will learn about the history of the forests of Hämeenkangas and the ecology of the pine forests of the dry, barren Kangas, and we will get to know the old experiments established by the Forest Research Institute.
