Youth are encountered in many different channels

The city's youth center Ketun Golo is closed and the face-to-face work of youth services with young people is on hold due to the coronavirus situation, but the youth work team has continued its active activities using all other means of communication.

City youth worker Terhi Lehikoinen and individual instructors for outreach youth work Noora Kuuskoski ja Mikaela Tervonen are available by phone, Whatsapp, social media, email and now also via the Discord server. The class instructor is also present on Ketun Golo's channels Laura Hakanen.

– Active presence in various communication channels is everyday for us, says the outreach youth work director Noora Kuuskoski. – We are present where young people are, and today they are better found on electronic media than walking around the city.

What's happening on Discord

Discord is a community service, originally developed for digital game players, but now also includes other young people and young adults. Discord consists of various servers, which are always joined via a direct link with your own nickname. Many different activities can be organized on the servers.

Both the youth farm Ketun Golo and the investigative youth work have their own server on Discord. Ketun Discord has various competitions and events, including record judging and a quiz. The investigative youth work server is mainly intended for all young people aged 15-29. Employees are present at certain times, so please observe the general rules of conduct. Ketun Golo's Discord also has a lesson instructor.
