The village of Veneskoski in Kankaanpää has been chosen as the Satakunta Village of the Year 2020! The City of Kankaanpää warmly congratulates you on the selection!

– The selection of the 2020 Satakunta Village of the Year is a well-deserved recognition for the village of Veneskoski. The village's volunteer spirit is unique, as the construction project for the Veneskoski event arena shows, praises the mayor of Kankaanpää Mika Hatanpää. – Warm congratulations to the village of Veneskoski!

The Satakunta Village of the Year was chosen for the 26th time and the selection was made by a jury consisting of representatives of the Satakunta Association, SataKylien and last year's winning village, Sydänmaa.

The jury was convinced of the village's long-term and courageous development. The village is clearly used to working together, and the good atmosphere and joy of the activity were also conveyed to the jury from the application.

The Veneskoski Village Association maintains two old school buildings and a theater area. The renovated event arena is a wonderful demonstration of courage and incredible volunteerism in the village. The village has been actively utilizing project funding for development for several years now. Versatile facilities and active operators enable year-round activities for all ages. The fun-sounding, unique events attract both villagers and visitors from outside to participate.

The Satakunta Regional Council will award the provincial village of the year with a grant of 3 euros. The winner of the provincial competition will also participate in the national Village of the Year competition organized by the Finnish Villages Association in spring 400.
