According to its mission statement Kankaanpää Co-educational Upper Secondary School is a regional general education institution that educates its students to be independent and creative seekers, applicators and producers of information and gives them the skills needed for further studies and future society. The sports department of Kankaanpää Co-educational Upper Secondary School is part of the Satakunta Sports Academy. Honkajoki Upper Secondary School is located in the Honkajoki settlement and at Honkajoki Upper Secondary School, students have the opportunity to learn about environmental issues in addition to their upper secondary school studies. Both upper secondary schools work closely with, among others, Satakunta University of Applied Sciences.
A total of approximately 90 students graduate from Co-educational Upper Secondary School and Honkajoki Upper Secondary School each year, and a good percentage of them continue their studies at various universities. There are approximately 200 regular upper secondary school students, in addition to which approximately 50 combined upper secondary school students complete their upper secondary school studies at Kankaanpää Co-educational Upper Secondary School.
The City of Kankaanpää will coordinate the joint 20Strong in Upper Secondary School project between 2023 December 30 and 2025 June 11 for 100 upper secondary schools, with the aim of strengthening learning support in upper secondary schools and modeling operating methods for identifying support needs and organizing learning support. The Finnish National Board of Education is funding the project. More information about the project can be found on the page learning support in high school.
