Students who have completed compulsory education receive school travel allowance from Kela if the distance to school is at least 7 kilometres in one direction. School travel allowance is primarily granted for travelling by public transport or using existing school transport. If there are no other options, Kela may grant support for self-arranged means of transport. School travel allowance can also be granted based on several different means of transport.
