Enrollment in school
Registration for the school takes place in early winter through the Wilma system. The date and instructions for registration will be communicated to guardians of preschoolers residents separately and generally via the city's website.
School enrollment 2026
In the year Children born in 2019 will start their schooling at the beginning of the 2026 – 2027 academic year. The guardian fills out the registration form using the online interface called Wilma By February 28, 2026If you would like a paper form, please contact the Keskusta School office, Margit Mantila (044 577 2350) or in Honkajoki, the school secretary Anne Vähäniemi (050 5775 206). Admission decisions will be made on February 28, 2026 based on registrations.
Wilma system operating instructions
To register a child, you need a Wilma system ID and access to the child's information. Note! A guardian who already has Wilma-id, does not create a new ID. The Wilma homepage and Wilma newsletters contain instructions for adding a child to an existing ID. Those who do not have a Wilma ID can create one themselves using Suomi.fi identification according to the instructions on the Wilma homepage at: https://kankaanpaa.inschool.fi/.
- After creating an account, log in to Wilma and select your new student.
- Go to the Forms.
- Register your child for school using the form Enrollment in basic education.
Postponement of starting school
A guardian who wishes to postpone the start of their child's schooling must submit a request to the Acting Director of Education, Mari Fabig (Kangasmoisionkatu 1, 38700 Kankaanpää). A statement from a doctor, psychologist or family counseling center must be attached. The request should be submitted by May 8, 2026.
Parents' evening for new students and introduction to the school
Parents' evenings will be held in the spring (or early autumn) at a separately announced time in daycare centers or schools for parents of new schoolchildren. The events are intended for all parents whose children will start 1st grade at Kankaanpää schools in autumn 2026. The parents' evenings will discuss issues related to pre-school and primary education.
The orientation for new students will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.Additional information about the orientation day will be available from local schools and daycare centers later in the spring.
Welcome to School Guide
The Welcome to School 2026 guide has been compiled with important information about school. We hope that this guide will support your child and family as they start school. The guide also contains information about morning and afternoon activities and a music-focused class run in collaboration with the Kankaanpää Music Institute and Keskusta School.
School work begins on Thursday, August 13, 2026
The fall semester begins on August 13, 2026. The fall break is in week 43. The fall semester ends on December 18, 2026. The spring semester begins on January 4, 2027. The winter break is in week 8. School ends on June 5, 2027.
