Village house survey in progress

village house

Where do people gather in your village if, for example, there is a long power outage or a water supply disruption?

The survey will improve the preparedness of villages and local communities for various disruptions, crises and exceptional situations.

The survey will map communal properties and sites located in villages that can function

  • in various disruption, accident and crisis situations, for example as a gathering place for villagers, an information point, a command center or
  • as an evacuation point in exceptional circumstances.

The target can act, among other things:

  • as a gathering place for villagers and an information point in various disruptions, accidents or crisis situations
  • as a base, for example, during a power outage, environmental damage, chemical accident, or large-scale fire
  • as a clean water distribution point in case of water supply disruptions
  • as an evacuation or emergency accommodation for village residents (e.g. the elderly), for example during a long-term power outage
  • as a base and accommodation for larger evacuation situations
  • as a command/maintenance center for the authorities, the Finnish Red Cross or the Voluntary Rescue Service in an accident or search situation
  • as an equipment warehouse for disruptions and crisis situations
  • as a base for a village radio station

The village house survey proceeds as follows:

  • Discuss the village together and agree on one place where you can gather in case of disruptions and crises.
  • Please ensure that you have permission from the owner of the property to provide the information.
  • Please provide information about the meeting place in the village house survey. Every village's response is important!
  • The provincial contact person will provide information about the sites to the municipal and welfare region authorities.
