The wooden church of Kankaanpää was constructed during the years 1834-39. The church was designed by C.L.Engel and it represents a pure tendence of empire architecture.

It’s a Lutheran church and its architecture and colours describe also some of values of lutheranism.

The church is situated on a small hilltop having a beautiful view on Lake Ruokojärvi.
